Here are a couple photos from Roslyn’s 6 month photo session. So adorable!

I shot these family portraits in Kansas City two days ago. It was originally a shoot for Lila, but she was reluctant to have her photo taken without mom or dad right next to her. We had to trick her a couple times to get her to be in photos by herself, but by the end of the shoot it was much easier. My favorite thing was how easy it was to get Lila to laugh…almost too easy. But I would rather have a 3 year old giggling for no apparent reason than one crying and running around wild ;) Christy is pregnant and today she is going to the hospital to deliver a baby boy…I can’t wait to see the outcome!

Here are some photos from the engagement session I shot of Jahann + Justin. We took some photos in Downtown, the Crossroads District and a couple in North Kansas City. It was a fun time and I always love engagement sessions because I get to know my future bride & groom more and how they interact with each other.

As with any July wedding, the weather was worrying me. But I was not worried about rain, it was the heat that had me concerned. It was hotter than a billy goat in a pepper patch. We were sort of saved during the outside photos as some clouds rolled through and took a little bit of the sizzle off. Right before we went into the reception, I was shooting some portraits of Kim. I was telling her I wanted to have her spin around a few times for a photo. She was not wanting to spin around too much for the fear of getting dizzy. After the first spin she was sold…she said it was like air conditioning for her dress. Now I know to have my brides spin early on a hot day ;)

The photo below is one of my favorites. It is a completely raw, and beautiful snapshot. Mike got very emotional while watching the slideshow they prepared and Kim was there to comfort him.

Yes…Mike requested “Crank That” by Soulja Boy and knew the dance…that right there made my night.

Mike and his groomsmen’s suits also looked very sharp. A cool touch that Kim + Mike did was get a custom Dia de los Muertos cake topper for the grooms cake. The cake topper had the same color suit as Mike and even had green Chuck Taylor shoes. Instead of the groomsmen having boutonnieres, they had Dia de los Muertos skull pins…pretty cool.
